OCTANE BOOSTERS
AFD Technologies offers a variety of octane booster additives designed to increase the octane number of gasoline and thereby horsepower, torque and overall performance in vehicles equipped with sensors. Up till now, all of our octane boosters were based on the performance proven and widely used MMT® (Methylcyclopentadienyl Manganese Tricarbonyl), a metallic octane booster. However we have recently completed a product development program that was aimed at qualifying non-metallic additive formulations as octane boosters for on-highway aftermarket applications.
AFD Technologies is pleased to announce the availability of a new line of environmentally friendly EPA registered non-metallic octane booster (NMOB) formulations. These products equal or outperform the octane boosting capabilities of MMT® in “on-highway” applications. Since they are considered “substantially similar” to unleaded gasoline, there is no question of their being harmful to the last emission control systems, and so they are ideal products for late model vehicles.
Metallic Octane Boosters or MMT®
AFDT has developed MMT® based formulations for a wide variety of applications. Some of these products are registered with the US EPA for domestic “on-highway” applications. Others are intended for similar use in countries where gasoline octane quality is low, while others are specifically designed for high performance “off-road” or racing applications.
AFD-7062 is our top of the line metallic octane booster product. The recommended use rate of AFD-7062 varies with the level of performance desired. AFD-7062 is compatible with all of the commonly used fuel injector and intake valve detergents, and can be combined with such additives in producing a truly high performance gasoline.
Non Metallic Octane Boosters (NMOB)
AFDT offers US EPA registered NMOB for domestic “on highway” applications. AFD-9050 is our top of the line NMOB.
MMT®/NMOB Combinations
AFDT also combinations of MMT® and NMOB for both on-highway and racing applications. Formulations of these combinations have been EPA registered for on-highway use. They offer the advantage of having higher octane boosting capability than when using an equal level of MMT® alone. This allows our customers the option of producing either a higher performance on-road product than was previously available, or maintaining the current performance level at lower treat levels of MMT®
AFD-9040 is one our products which is a combination of MMT® and NMOB.
FUEL LUBRICITY
AFD-2575 is a premium performance fully synthetic multi-purpose gasoline additive designed to provide outstanding carburetor, fuel injector and intake valve detergency. When used at the lower end of the treatment range, AFD-2575 provides fuel injector clean up in one tank of use, and meets the requirements for unlimited approval in the BMW 318i intake valve deposit test. Using AFD-2575 reduces excess exhaust emissions caused by the build up of fuel injector and intake valve deposits.

TOTAL FUEL SYSTEM CLEANERS
AFD-2105 is a premium gasoline performance additive concentrate, which is a very cost effective competitor for formulations based on Techron®. It is designed to provide rapid total fuel system cleanup; including the fuel line, fuel injectors, intake manifold, intake valves, and the combustion chamber.
As a result of this total system detergency, cars which have used a single tank of gasoline treated with AFD-2105 experience most or all of the following performance improvements: improves cold starting; better drivability; smoother and more powerful acceleration; better throttle response; smoother idling; improved gas mileage; reduced hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions: and protection against fuel system corrosion. AFD-2105 is EPA registered for aftermarket use, and is safe for use with catalytic converters and oxygen sensors.
2 & 4 CYCLE SMALL ENGINES
AFD-2400 Small engine gasoline additive concentrate is based on advanced fuel technology for application in engines typically found in motorcycles, snowmobiles, and watercraft. It is designed to provide effective smoke suppression, enhanced ease of starting, off-season stabilization, and total fuel system cleanup and deposit prevention; including the fuel line, fuel injectors, intake manifold, intake valves, and the combustion chamber. AFD-2400 also protects against fuel system corrosion. It contains an octane booster for high performance motorcycles and snowmobiles.
As a result of this total system detergency, small engines treated with AFD-2400 perform better in use and enjoy a longer maintenance free life. Regular use of the formulations based on AFD-2400 leads to reduce hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions.

Diesel Additives
DIESEL INEJECTOR CLEANERS
AFD-6550 is a cost effective multi-purpose diesel detergent/inhibitor additive concentrate. It provides excellent injector detergency, combined with lubricity enhancement, and corrosion protection; removes and prevents deposits which can deteriorate fuel economy and emissions; and offers superior performance in the Cummins L-10 injector depositing test with a CRC rating < 10.
COLD FLOW IMPROVERS
AFD-6000C is a cost effective multi-purpose winter diesel additive concentrate, which is designed to provide outstanding low temperature flow properties, combined with lubricity enhancement, corrosion protection, and injector detergency. It may be used directly to bulk treat diesel at terminals, or formulated into a convenient aftermarket treatment.
As with any winter diesel additive, the performance of this product depends markedly upon the characteristics of the diesel fuel being treated. In particular, if AFD-6000C is used in an aftermarket formulation, the response of the treated diesel fuel will depend on whether the fuel has already be treated with a flow improver at the refinery or terminal level.
CETANE IMRPOVERS
AFD-6800 is a cost effective diesel cetane improver additive concentrate. It increases cetane number rating of diesel fuels and improves cetane quality of distillate stocks which have less than diesel fuel quality
In typical applications the treatment rate for AFD-6800 ranges from 500 to 5000 ppm by volume, and will increase cetane number up to 10 points depending upon treat rate and cetane quality of base diesel fuel.
SMOKE SUPPRESSANTS
AFD-6730 is a unique multi-purpose diesel additive. It combines outstanding injector detergency and corrosion inhibition, with a marked improvement in particulate emissions and fuel economy as a result of its combustion catalyst. In addition to these features, it is formulated with a lubricity agent to protect against premature injector pump failure.
AFD-7062 comprises 62% by weight of methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT®), the well-known manganese based gasoline octane booster, dissolved in a hydrocarbon solvent. Besides its octane booster capabilities in gasoline, the additive is very effective in reducing smoke and particular emissions in diesel fuel.
COMBUSTION IMPROVERS
AFD-6730 is a premium diesel additive/combustion improver. It gives following performance features:
- AFD-6730 can be added to bulk storage tanks to treat large amounts of diesel fuel at once.
- Excellent detergency in both DI and IDI diesel engines
